QLD DEED OF GRANT OF LAND Title Reference: 40065414 [MER] There are layers of Acts / Deeds / Legislations that are suppressing our sovereign title to our lands. Deed of Grant in Trust (as we know as DOGIT or Land Transfer or Trustee) are two pieces of paper that says that the Qld Govt transferred our land title from their asset register to Schedule 2 Mer Gedkem Le Torres Strait Islanders Corporation RNTBC so that they now hold our land ‘in trust’ as from 29 November 2012. What does that even mean to hold ‘in trust’ and where is MABO in all of this? Our first giant leap towards sovereignty is for each Meriam sovereign freeholder, that’s YOU if you own land on Mer Island to take YOUR land out of Schedule 1 Description of Land so that Mer Gedkem Le can no longer talk or make decisions on behalf of you for your land. We will look further into the process of removing individual lands from Schedule 1 in the Deed of Grant of Land as attached. Check back for updates.
